Chinese Language and Culture Education

Second Life Chinese School Introduction

Second Life Chinese School on Chinese Island is a place where you can enjoy the beauty of Chinese culture and natural oriental landscape with a scent of history and modern life. It is a place you can come into to learn Chinese language and culture on your own or take a class. By visiting your friends in the apartment building and role playing a tea party together, you can hear how to say "你喜欢喝什么茶 (Nǐ xǐhuan hē shénme chá" and chose whether you would like to have "green tea" or "chrysanthemum tea". You can go "淼月餐馆(Miǎoyuè Cānguǎn" and have an authentic Chinese meal after a long day shopping in "wang fu jing street". At the end of the day, you will realize you were able to use Chinese to bargain for the most beautiful jade you have seen and to order the most delicious food in Second Life.

Another cool thing that residents in Chinese Island do is to hang out in "海边公园(Hǎibiān Gōngyuán)" and visit the historical "华夏博物馆(Huáxià Bówùguǎn". You can join the residents to retrieve the lost sword in the museum. This type of activity is common on our island, we call it co-questing. By helping the museum retrieve the most valuable collection, you will get to know the residents and get oriented to the island using Chinese language. During co-questing, you help each other, sometimes with the guidance of instructors and tutors, solve problems in Chinese which fulfill your goal of practicing direction words and different types of greetings.

Language learning becomes a real life experience in Chinese Island, no more memorizing words and grammar facts, you can practice as many times as you want until you pick up the patterns of usage. There are many challenging and entertaining quests embedded in Chinese Island, join us, get to know the friendly Chinese Island residents and make your Chinese learning experience a fun and engaging one.
